A two-day International Conference "Insight 14" for Gynecologist and Laparoscopy surgeons from tomorrow would discuss the current trend in fertility treatment, particularly the new 3D Trans-Vaginal Sonography.

About 300 surgeons are expected to attend the conference, which deals with hysteroscopy workshop, on the first day, to impart skill to future generation of gynaecologists, Dr Asha R Rao, Associate Director, Rao Hospital Centre for Assisted Reproduction and Endoscopy, told reporters here today.

The event is organised by the hospital Covai Obstetrics and Gynaecology Society and Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry Chapter of Indian Society for Assisted Reproduction, Asha said.

The latest sonography is capable of identifying malformation of foetus, uterine anomalies, multi-pregnancy and tubal pregnancy from which further procedures, like carrying out hystetoscopy or laparoscopy on the patients could be decided, she said.

One can terminate unwanted pregnancy in case of multi or tubal pregnancies by this technology, besides knowing about the ovary egg or sperm count, before starting the treatment procedure, Asha said.

On the second day, Dr Mark Bowaman, president, Australian Fertility Society would speak on "current trend in fertility treatment" and Dr Anju Sinha, Consultant in Gynaegololgy from National University, UK, would talk on "unexplained reasons for infertility", Asha said.
